Artificial Intelligence Applications

Most of us think of artificial intelligence, referred to as AI, as a scientific experiment to make robots like humans. In a nutshell that is along the right lines of things. Programmers are working to design AI machines to be able to process information and learn rather than just follow commands that have been programmed into the machine.

While the technology to do so has not yet been developed, AI applications are already in place throughout the world. Many of us just don’t recognize it in the forms out there. The search engine Google is a form of AI application. Most of us who surf the World Wide Web are familiar with google and the vast amount of information it offers on most any topic you can think of.

In 2005, AI robots drove vehicles in a race across the desert. The idea was to promote installing AI devices in vehicles to help alert the driver to possible dangers including a collision about to happen and driving over the speed limit.



Many people feel threatened by the thought of AI helping them drive a vehicle. However, for the disabled and elderly, such assistance many be just what they need to be able to operate a vehicle.

Financial institutions use AI machines to operate a variety of functions. It is used to monitor account activity. If activity is noticed that is out of the normal pattern for that user a live person will then follow up with the user to find out if they have been completing the transactions in question.

AI is used in the medical field for scheduling, shift rotations, and in some areas to get basic information from those coming in to seek medical attention.

AI applications are all around us, though most of such activity we really aren’t aware of. For me, I guess I had not differentiated between AI and computer activity. AI applications is an area that continues to grow. Expect to see it more and more as technological advances are discovered.
