Aids Epidemic

Aids is very deadly disease that can be spread by unprotected sex or transmitted by bodily fluids getting into open wounds. It can also be spread by sharing needles. In some cases aids can be transferred by blood transfusions. Women infected with the Aids virus can spread it to their children while in the womb.

Africa has the largest aids epidemic in the World with more than 27 million people having this deadly disease. More than 2 million people in Africa die from Aids each year. It is believed aids originated in the United States, then migrated to other regions. Aids transmission and exposure skyrocketed in open sexual relationships and gay and lesbian relationships in the United States and other countries.

More people are taking responsibility for their aids statues throughout the world. This has reduced the epidemic as well. Individuals who have aids and knowingly engage in unprotected sexual activity can be held criminal liable.

There is not any cure known yet for aids. The best we can do is to treat those who are infected with various

drugs and treatments to prolong their lives. Now that the world is aware of what aids is as well as what causes it, programs have been in place to teach everyone ways to prevent it. Using condoms has greatly reduced the spread of aids. When you have unprotected sex, you are at risk of contracting aids. It is like having sex with every person they have had sex with as well when it come to exposure. Since you can’t know the health of all the parties involved, do all you can to protect yourself.

Children are educated beginning around middle school age as to the ways to contract aids and how to prevent the spread of the disease. Drug users are being educated about aids being spread through the use of shared needles. The health care profession takes precautions with used needles and exposure to the possibility of the aid virus. The spread of aids through blood transfusions doesn’t happen very often any more. Once this situation was discovered new tests were developed to identify individuals with the HIV virus or aids. They are no longer allowed to donate blood.
